the only drawback is that all straps must be buckled. I had one loose strap caught in the ski lift chair.all else is great.I researched this purchase endlessly, looking at hundreds of bags and then this one cropped up. Highly highly recommend. Incredibly well made, super versatile, looks sharp as hell and good price. The bag is kind of heavy without anything in it.Compartment for the Snow Shovel is also small.WOW! The Swedes really know what they're doing when designing products for upcountry sports and activities! This backpack has it all! Extremely well designed and manufactured, with great features that aren't found on other backpacks. This is the creme de la creme of alpine packs, and versatile enough for other uses as well.We are planning a Colorado ski trip late this month, and plan to find the powder higher than the lifts, so this backpack will be a boon to getting up to the tops with equipment!I did a full test of the storage systems this week, and snowboard, skiis, helmets, video goggles and miscellaneous items all fit or were attached exactly as described in the video on this product page. Really secure, and comfortable with all the items attached or included! Shoulder straps were easy to adjust and the chest strap reduces the feel of the load. This is going to be an excellent pack for getting to the best snow with less fatigue! A firm plastic backing to the pack assures there will be no hotspots while wearing. We are also planning a trip to the French Alps next winter, and plan to ski the top of the Grand Montet in Chamonix. At times of the year, there is constant avalanche danger there, so we'll add the compatible Airbag before we leave for safety!Now...we found ANOTHER fantastic use for this pack as well.I am a very avid metal detectorist, and I often go well into the backcountry to find very old homesteads, long abandoned, to hunt. Getting to those sites usually involves long hikes with a detector, shovel, small pick, assorted coils, and miscellaneous other items.I tested this pack to see if it would be a viable alternative to standard packs for treasure hunting purposes, and it came through in spades! The plethora of attachment features of the pack allowed me to mount a metal detector, shovel, and small pick on the outside of the pack (Like skiis). The inside of the pack easily handled two different sized coils for the detector. The side compartments allowed for one to be a receptacle for small finds, and the other for GPS, phone, and Pinpointer.Other compartments handled water, windbreaker, and snacks. I may use the Airbag compartment to insert a water bladder which should not be a problem.I went into the backcountry of Oklahoma to a homestead foundation site I had been researching. It required a nearly two-mile hike in an area with no roads or trails. This pack, set up as described above, was a lifesaver and kept my hands free! Easy trekking and arrival at the site with very little fatigue and ready to hunt! Absolutely perfect!I cannot think of a single thing that would improve this pack. It is THAT well designed. It is robust and extremely well manufactured. I imagine that with proper care, it will survive YEARS of hard use.No question in giving this Swedish backpack my HIGHEST recommendation! It is truly worth every penny! A+++Both my wife and I hit the slopes fairly often during the winter, and we've been looking for a couple of good packs to use that can carry all our stuff for a day on the mountain and to and from the slopes. We got both the 35L and 20L Upslope of a slightly different version to use and try out and love both of them. After a few rides with the 35L pack I realized that it's just a better all around bag then the 20L. I love the netting for the helmet which the 20L Upslope version doesn't have, and the extra space is really nice to have. The extra 15L doesn't add that much weight or bulk, and it's nice to have the option to pack more if I want to. I'd also advocate for the 35L over the 25L in this Upslope design.PROS1) Can carry boards and skis which is just awesome. Easily straps into the pack on the outside. So much easier than carrying in your hands everywhere.2) Love the look of this pack. Rugged yet refined. Got a lot of compliments on the bag.3) Super high quality, just like you'd expect from Thule. Did it's job like a champ. Thick material that should last for years of taking a beating on the mountain.4) Plenty of compartment space and pocket/zipper options to separate out your goodies for the day.5) Really lightweight and not a problem to take a tumble in.6) Really solid pack for the price.7) I don't do backcountry skiing, but it's nice to have the air bag option if I ever decide to. You don't have to worry about avalanches really when you're at a ski resort, but it's definitely something you need to worry about when out in the backcountry, and the air bag option will give you great piece of mind if you do go in the backcountry.CONS1) None. I absolutely love this pack. After purchasing both packs I would recommend 35L vs the 20L or 25L. The space in the 35L definitely makes it more versatile than the 20L without adding much more weight or bulk. You don't have to pack it full, but it's nice to have the option of the extra 15L to carry what you need rather than leaving things behind that you'd like to have but can't fit. Either way you can’t go wrong with these great products from Thule.great back , fab build quality . Well engineered . people have really thought about what the features. I love the giant hip pockets . actually the reason i bought it was because of these pockets . I love being able to stash things away easily without have to take the back of. the waist buckle can actually be undone quickly when you get the hang of it. I havn;t had a chance to take the pack to the snow yet but been using it to go to the park and hikes. straps and harness great. the front pocket is large enough and the google pocked is quite big .. fits all the bit that you need quick ascess too.. and then then main pocket accesed through the back panel is fine to stash the things you need to take but don't need to get out that often. I havn't installed the air bag system. Its pretty expensive so maybe at a later date or just rent one when need it. Its nice to have the option to put it in. The size is great. It will fit everything for back country. I'd be hesitant with anything smaller. Perfekt. Sehr gute Details und Verarbeitung.
